Jinghong-Ganlanba

Day1: start from Jinghong to Ganlanba with 27 kilometers all the way along Lancang River. There are many Dai villages scattered in Ganlanba. We visit morning market, and then go around villages by bicycle to see their fields, monasteries, fish ponds, home gardens, and then have lunch at noon. In the afternoon we bicycle through beautiful sceneries. We have dinner and stay one night in a Dai house.

If you just want to do 1 day bicycle tour, 3 solutions are possible for going back to Jinghong. No.1 by bicycle, No.2 by small lorry or motor tricycle, which transports all bicycles, No.3 by boat, you can cruise and view the wonderful sceneries along the Lancang River.

Day2: after breakfast, we start in the morning for Ganlanba market with ethnic groups such as Dai, Aini people. After that we are transferred on Lancang River by the ferry boat to the opposite shore. We are now ready for a journey of 30 kilometers —all flat. We  bicycle through Dai and Aini villages. On the way we visit a church in a Dai village, beautiful reservoir. We have lunch in a Dai house and come back to Jinghong in the afternoon. Today’s bicycle tour is about 30 kilometers in total.

Matters Need Attentions

Notes:

No.1: Xishuangbanna Dai, Bulang, Aini people have lots of taboos. It is prohibited to sit against a houses’ holy pillar, touch monks’ head, walk over fire pit, and don’t walk randomly into a village without a guide because you may be bitten by dog.

No.2: don't wear bright clothes and wear a hat when walking into the tropical rain forest. Rainforest has many toxic plants, don’t touch, smell or taste wild fruits and flowers against scratches or poisoning.

Such Matters As:

* Leave your shoes at the door when entering into Dai house, but also in the indoor walk gently

* Do not cross the fire or fire pit

* Do not enter bedrooms

* Do not enter the master room

* Do not sit in the doorway

* Do not mess with the fires

*No whistling or trimming nails

* Take off shoes when going into temple, taboo to touch little monks’ head, statues, and a series of Buddhist sacred flag
